In this case study, the client used AI to create first drafts of their training modules, then turned to TRSB to edit and rewrite the English copy and translate and localize it into French and Spanish.
About the client
Our client is a Quebec tourism authority that works to promote its travel destination to industry professionals and the general public on behalf of over 825 members.
Background/challenge
Our client had to prepare training modules for travel industry professionals on very short order. Normally they would write the materials themselves in French and have them translated into English and Spanish later, but for this job the priority was English and time was of the essence. Some creative thinking was in order.
Time to put AI to the test! Our client used ChatGTP to write new descriptions of area attractions based on legacy texts on their website. The program generated a first draft of three different texts totalling over 13,000 words.
Outcome
The first priority was to fact-check and edit the English texts. TRSB assigned an English copywriter to the job who was also a subject-matter expert on the destination.
The copywriter checked the texts for historical and geographical accuracy, including dates, descriptions, and locations. He also added some copy where needed and adjusted various shop and restaurant descriptions, drawing on his familiarity with the destination. Once finished, he went back through the copy to make sure everything was suitable for an audience of travel industry professionals.
In three days, all three texts were finalized and approved.
TRSB’s French and Spanish translators then sprang into action. They made sure to “localize” the text as needed, such as a section dealing mostly with the concerns of English-speaking travellers. It was replaced by a text reflecting the questions that French and Spanish speakers have.
On a tight budget and deadline, our client successfully launched a series of three professionally edited training modules in English, French, and Spanish.
