Case study: A financial client with huge regulatory filings

We have been working since 2015 with a Canadian-owned company that must file close to 1,000 financial documents (MRFP/FS) twice a year in English and French.

About the client

The firm offers a broad range of mutual funds—from core to niche, and across asset classes and geography—so investors can find the right solution for any market condition. Its multi-boutique approach encourages innovation as each team utilizes its own management style and independent investment insights.

Background/challenge

Twice a year, as per regulatory requirements, our client must update close to 1,000 financial documents in English and translate them into French. Every text must also be made AODA compliant for online posting.

When TRSB began coordinating the production process in 2015, our Desktop Publishing department received hundreds of English files. The first order of business was to make the files faster and easier to update and translate by adjusting the formatting, layers, AODA details, and more. TRSB is the gatekeeper of the documents, which are maintained and updated season over season. Our client later merged with another firm, creating a need for further adjustments to give the files a standardized look and feel.

As TRSB gained familiarity with the process, we were able to suggest efficiencies that made it easier to comply with filing deadlines. Each season we meet with the client’s team to discuss what can be improved.

Outcome

Today, we work seamlessly together as partners. We coordinate before each production cycle to finalize key deadlines and ensure that all documents are translated and filed on time.

Our client now has a turnkey solution for keeping its files up to date at all times and is happy with TRSB’s careful work to ensure translation quality and uniformity.
